After Shaking hands, hugging, smiling, laughing, holding several side bar conversations
with different church members, and meeting with their committees and ministries,
Jan and William get into their Mercedes to go home. They lived about forty miles
from the church so they had a lot of time to talk on the way to and from church.
“That was some kind of worship service today, huh cakes”, exclaimed William.
“Cakes” was his pet name for her since they dated in college. “Yep, the sermon
was really good”, “…and the singing? I almost jumped out of my seat”. “Is that
right?”, William replied. Then there was a moment of silence. Jan waited for
the silence to be broken by her husband’s insecurity.
